The best first agent is useful, bounded, and easy to review. Pick a workflow with clear inputs, outputs, tool access, and a human owner before you [review it for deploy](/articles/review-an-agent-before-deploy).

## Building the first draft

Start from Agents, then create a new agent from a business-language description. A useful prompt names the trigger, goal, inputs, tools, and expected output.

Review the generated draft, source tree, validation state, and requested tool scopes before saving. Keep the first version as a draft until the business owner has reviewed it and the team understands the [connector scope](/articles/add-a-connector-or-mcp-server).

## Good first-agent boundaries

> Avoid irreversible external actions for the first deployment. Start with read-only, draft, or approval-gated work until [trust](/articles/understand-agent-trust-scores) and policy behavior are clear.

> Watch out: Do not start with production writes, refunds, deletes, or customer notifications unless a policy forces human approval first.
